Pooh Bear was a calico bobtail orphaned kitten that arrived at the shelter at an estimated 2 weeks old. She was placed in a local foster home. Pooh Bear had a rounded little body like the child’s character Pooh. Her foster family named her Pooh Bear due to her body structure and the way she moved in such an unhurried way. She loved meal time which was every 3 hours day and night. She enjoyed her bottle and refused to try and eat on her own for several weeks. She loved to be held, carried and cuddled. Her foster family noticed that she did not run and play as other kittens. At times, she appeared to have difficulty breathing so several trips to the vet. The vet visits were encouraging. Pooh Bear seemed to be getting better. Then one weekend, she stopped getting better. More testing at the vet and the diagnosis was not good. Pooh Bear did not survive. She was just one of many cats and kittens in our community last year that did not need to suffer. Spay and Neutering prevents suffering. A spaying sponsorship has been made by Pooh's Foster Family in memory of Pooh and many others that die due to overpopulation and disease. Please spay and neuter your own pets. The gift of a s/n sponsorship will save lives and decrease the suffering.
A spay cat voucher sponsorship has been made in memory of Lizzy. Lizzy was rescued from the Clark Co. Animal Shelter going to a rescue out of state. The rescue was destroyed by flooding before Lizzy arrived. So she stayed in Kentucky where she remained because of her "unique" personality. Potential adopters loved her eyes and looks until she gave them the "go away" stare! Then they would leave and Lizzy would return to a sweet darling in her foster home. Lizzy died from cancer March 2015. She was only 5 years old. Her foster Mom misses the many faces of Lizzy. Lizzy loved her Mom and her Mom loved her. She had a personality that will never be forgotten.
A voucher sponsorship has been made in honor of the fighting spirit of Precious by her lifesaving foster home. Precious delivered three kittens at the shelter the summer of 2013. A family stepped up to foster them with hopes that forever homes would be found. Precious was a dedicated Mommy and her kittens thrived under her care. When the time came for them to go to rescue, two kittens were adopted by the foster family. Days before her transport, Precious became very sick. She was staying at the home of the family that was going to transport her to rescue. Precious was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. Her life expectancy was stated as one year or less. She was only a year old. Precious was adopted by the family that was going to take her to rescue and her kitten found her home in PA. Her foster family and her forever family have kept in contact the last 3 years sharing updates about Precious and her kittens. Precious has many good days and a few bad days. She should have never survived giving birth to kittens, raising the kittens or the last two years due to her heart condition. But she has survived with determination and a will to live through it all.
Don't Litter...Spay and Neuter Sponsorship...a cat spay sponsorship has been made in honor and memory of all the homeless animals in our community. The sponsor hopes that we will join together as a community to end the death and suffering of the animals that are being born with no place to go. The sponsor donates in memory of all those that were not saved because people failed the animals by making the wrong choices. Sponsoring ONE saves so many lives! Let's make better choices for the animals!
